The Top 10 Watches For New Collectors

Posted on 09 November 2016

Let's face it, we have all admired the Cool Kid's Club of watch collectors from afar. They are bold, driven, they know what they want and are not afraid to ask for it. More importantly, they are well read on any watch related subject. But, what about us that...well... aren't? How do we break the barrier into the realm of fine timepieces? Where to even begin?

Well, we had our resident watch expert, Nick answer just that. Below, we compiled a list of the Top 10 Watches that we feel are the perfect way to start off any new collection.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay

The sister brand to Rolex, Tudor offers an incredible package for an attractive price. Featuring the iconic and super-legible snowflake hands, this timepiece is an instant classic.

 MSRP - $3,425 Pre-Owned - $2,300

Breitling Navitimer 806

An appealing look with an even more appealing past. Shrouded in mystery and even controversy, the Breitling Navitimer has even the experts arguing about details. Some researchers believe this timepiece was designed for the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) while others believe that the AOPA had to have pieces specifically made for them with their logo on it. Either way, the one thing we can all agree on is that this is a must have.

 MSRP - $7,940 Pre-Owned - $4,600

Omega Speedmaster

A must-have for any discerning collector, the Omega Speedmaster had the privilege of being the first and only watch worn on the moon. Going head to head with numerous other brands to win a NASA contract, the Omega Speedmaster outperformed every single one, proving just how resilient this piece can be. Worn outside of a spacesuit on moonwalks, this watch can take almost anything you can give it.

MSRP - $4,500 Pre-Owned - $2,800

Panerai  PAM00422

Panerai has a long and interesting history producing timepieces for the Italian Navy and the Luminor perfectly embodies their dedication and desire to remember the past. Featuring the iconic Panerai crown-locking mechanism and an in-house movement, the simple style makes this a truly quintessential vintage-inspired timepiece.

MSRP - $9,600 Pre-Owned - $8,600

Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is the most iconic piece produced by the most recognized watchmaker in the world. A truly timeless design that works with just about any attire, it is one of the most versatile dive watches on the market.

MSRP - $7,500 Pre-Owned - $5,850

Calibre de Cartier

Cartier has been making huge strides in watchmaking in recent years, and the Calibre de Cartier is no exception. Beating within the cushion-style case is the most affordable in-house movement available from Cartier. The classic Cartier style shines through and makes for a bold, striking timepiece that would make a perfect addition to any collection.

MSRP - $24,800 Pre-Owned - $16,120

It has quickly turned into one of the most sought after watches at auction and we can see why.

Originally conceived as a sport’s watch, the Reverso features a unique face that is capable of being flipped around to protect it during activities (specifically Polo). The collection was created in 1931 and was immediately accepted by the watch community. Meant for sport, but dress in style. This makes the Reverso your ideal timepiece.

MSRP - $5,650 Pre-Owned - $1,895
