MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS [FOR EVERY MOM] FROM STORE 5a

When it comes to gifting jewelry, particularly for a meaningful occasion like Mother’s Day, there are really three questions you can ask yourself to help you pick out the perfect gift. And knowing the heart of your recipient, in this case, your wife, sister, mom or friend, is the perfect place to start!

ASK YOURSELF THESE THREE QUESTIONS:

1. Is she sentimental?

If the answer is yes, then she might love something that symbolizes your love for her, or reminds her of her children. The perfect example of this would be a multi-stone ring that bears of the birthstones of each of her children. Or perhaps a heart-shape pendant necklace that will remind her of your love for her! As well, monogrammed or engraved pieces are always a great idea for the mom that likes jewelry that conveys special meaning.

2. Is she trendy?

Women who like trendy pieces are so fun to shop for. The perfect gift for the trendy mom is the one that she might buy for herself if she had the opportunity. She might gravitate towards the newest designer handbag, or a fun, vibrant scarf- something that shows off her personality! She might like jewelry made from unique finishes, metals, or stones- anything special or on-trend!

3. Is she classic?

Does she tend to gravitate towards timeless, wear-everyday pieces? A classic mom is often attracted to simple styles that she never has to take off, the staple items that should be in every woman’s jewelry box. This could be a diamond tennis bracelet, a beautiful strand of pearls, or a quilted Chanel bag.

And then there’s the mom who is all three. Take me, for example. I recognize the importance of classic pieces in my jewelry box, while the fashion blogger in me can’t help but gravitate towards trendy pieces that really make a statement. I am also very nostalgic, and lean to objects that contain special meaning (an example of this is a ring that I never take off that has my husband’s name engraved on it). So, you might call me a bit sentimental, too.

And in that case, get her a gift card. Just kidding. 😉

That is actually one of my favorite things about STORE 5a. They carry something for everyone (and mom!)- from their gorgeous selection of pre-owned, designer handbags to their beautifully refurbished and professionally-appraised jewelry and watches. Something I really appreciate about their assortment is that they carry the classic jewelry-box staples that every woman should own, while also maintaining a great selection of trendier, statement pieces. And when it comes to pieces for sentimental people like myself, many of STORE 5a’s pre-owned pieces are vintage, which means they contain a story of their own.

I had the pleasure of getting to select a few pieces from their site to style and photograph, and just like last time, I felt like a kid in a candy store. I had such a difficult time choosing amongst so many beautiful pieces.

When I saw the Bel-Oro geometric link necklace on the site, I knew I had to style it. I loved the mixed-metal combination of white gold with yellow gold, and the shape of the links were so unique! To help create a layered look, I also selected the curb-link multi-stone necklace that featured emeralds, rubies and sapphire stones. Next up, the yellow gold “X” post earrings that I thought would really stand out against my newly chopped hair. Moving on to my wrists, I opted for two always-classic David Yurman cable cuffs- one with pearl and diamond accents, and the other with faceted citrine stones. Then, I spotted the initial “B” diamond and yellow gold ring– it’s as if it were made just for me! My last name is Ballard, and the sentimental in me is always drawn to pieces that bear my initials. Lastly, after scouring many pages of handbags, my eyes landed right on the gorgeous red Chanel quilted Mini Classic flap bag. How could I not?! Chanel has always been my favorite designer (since I was a little girl), and red is my favorite color.
