Style Update: Week 4
H:What trends do you like for the fall?
M:My favorite trend at the moment is anything plaid or checkered. I absolutely love this time of year and these prints just scream fall! So when I saw the new Burberry bag with their iconic print in your store I had to use it in the photoshoot. I also like it because it has plenty of pockets, and I need a purse that can keep diapers, wipes, bottles, toys, and all the other things that little kids need organized. Another trend I’m enjoying is the long silhouette with midi and duster length vests and jackets.
H:Why did you pick the jewelry pieces you did?
M:I’m generally a minimalist when it comes to jewelry and accessories. Occasionally I go for a statement necklace, but for everyday looks I just layer small pieces like charm necklaces, bracelets, and band rings. I’m especially in love the Astley Clarke bracelets because they’re easy to mix and match with other jewelry. I also picked the Jaeger watch because it is super trendy with its leather strap and rose gold case.
H:What do you look for when buying jewelry?
M:When I’m buying jewelry and accessories I look for things that can stand the test of time. Trend items can be fun, but quality is most important.
H:How do you feel about buying pre-owned?
M:The thing I like about buying pre-owned accessories is that is allows me to buy something that that feels special and unique. My first pre-owned jewelry purchase was my vintage Rolex. It has a lot of sentimental value because I got it for myself to celebrate a promotion at my previous job! But I also love that I have never seen anyone wearing the exact same style.
H:What do you do, kids, hobbies, etc.?
M:I live in Worthington with my Husband and two boys. I used to work in the fashion industry but I decided to become a stay at home mom after I had my first son. Earlier this year I got the itch to use some of those skills I developed over my career in fashion, so I relaunched my blog, https://thefashiondarlingcolumbus.wordpress.com. It’s the perfect thing for me because I get to stay at home with my boys, but also have fun writing and styling stories about current trends for my readers!
